Genitourinary Conditions

Get Your Genitourinary Condition Treated by a Medical Professional at Home

About 10 percent of all  emergency room involve the genitourinary (GU) system including kidneys, bladder, genitals, ureters, and urethra. Urinary tract infections (UTIs) are highly common and can be effectively treated. Other GU-related issues that Pivotal Health can treat include sexually transmitted infections (STIs), vaginal discharge, and emergency contraception.

If untreated, urinary tract infections (UTIs) can lead to serious, permanent health problems. A UTI occurs when harmful bacteria can enter any part of the urinary tract, including the bladder, kidneys, ureters or urethra. If you are experiencing symptoms of a UTI, Pivotal Health’s clinicians can come to you to provide treatment. UTIs won’t always cause noticeable symptoms. When they do, you may experience any of the following: persistent or strong urge to urinate, burning while urinating, passing small amounts of urine frequently, pelvic pain in women, urine that appears pink, red, cola-colored or cloudy, or urine with a foul smell. If an infection spreads to the kidneys, a person may experience additional symptoms, including high fever, nausea, chills, vomiting and/or pain in the side or upper back.

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) usually pass from one person to another through sexual contact. Effective treatment is available for most STIs, especially when diagnosed early. Common STIs include chlamydia, genital herpes, hepatitis B, human papillomavirus (HPV), gonorrhea, and syphilis. HIV can also be contracted via sexual contact.

How Pivotal Health Can Help

For UTIs, Pivotal Health’s clinicians can come to you. Our clinician may perform a urine dipstick test which detects abnormalities in the urine. If the clinician diagnoses you with a UTI, antibiotics are typically the best way to treat UTI symptoms. Pivotal Health’s clinicians will often be able to administer the initial antibiotic dose during the visit and will electronically send a prescription to your pharmacy.

For STIs, Pivotal Health’s clinicians can diagnose and treat you in the comfort and privacy of your home. The clinician will take detailed history and may take a urine and/or blood sample to send to our laboratory for testing. They will then create an effective treatment plan.
